Today is a great day – the day us Americans celebrate our independence. While our country has it fair share of shortcomings (who doesn’t?), I can definitively say that there is no place I would have rather spend my first 22 years on the planet. I. Love. This. Country.
The fourth of July is something more than just a day of over-the-top patriotism, to me, though. It is a day to reflect on the things in life that we take for granted. Our freedom, privileges, technology, friends, and family are all things that we don’t necessarily take time to be consciously thankful for enough.
Today, try to do the opposite. Be thankful for the great weather, good food, and even better company on this glorious day.
Proud to be an American,
